Cookware set in original box as checked luggage?

I would like to buy the following cookware set on amazon, and take it back to Canada as checked luggage, in the original box.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(It's 49 linear inches and 28 pounds, so fits United requirements.)

My reason is that it's much cheaper than in Canada (by about 50%), and by taking it with me on the plane I can avoid it getting stuck in customs.

Is there a big risk that it gets damaged? I called Anolon and they said it's packed very well. They ship with UPS usually...

My flight is SAN-ORD-YYZ, if that matters.

Ideally, I'd like to order on amazon by tomorrow, so that it arrives in time. Any help would be appreciated!!
