When we came from SEA a couple of weeks ago, we had issues with baggage claim also in FLL.
I would still choose FLL vs MIA.

But when we were in LGA last Monday. I was watching the baggage crew prioritize the luggage and saw them place the priority bags first and give them to us first. I give the LGA baggage handlers at least for our flight kudos for prioritizing the luggage.
