According to the IATA there were 17 hull loss accidents in 36.8m flights on Western-built aircraft in 2010 - i.e. a rate of less than .61 per million. So you are overwhelmingly likely never to be involved in an aircraft crash. And even if you are, anecdotes aside, how much more likely are you to survive with shoes on?

Not everybody puts on fire proof clothing whenever they get into a car, just in case they have a catastrophic crash with fire involved.
