I do admire those who think swapping the employer bought CW seat for the OPs wife's purchased WT+ seat could be seen as an act of gross misconduct.
I never felt such loyalty for any of my employers so I wouldn't have had any hesitation doing it.

I hope availability opens up for the OP and both can sit in CW with a clear conscience.
