Once, Vancouver to DFW my fiancé's upgrade did not clear, mentioned to my seatmate. Sure," I'll be glad to switch"-her seat back in the teens somewhere. He asked only that his meal drinks be sent back to him.
Granted, much shorter flight-but, I am not making this up(!)
