I think it's lauadable that posters want to do somehing nice for their spouses and partners, but if the OP's employer has paid for a CW seat for him, I don't think he should give the seat to his other half. The employer is paying a premium for having a well rested employee after a long flight. Giving his seat to his spouse is not the right thing to do.
You are correct!! However he may not be well rested in this scenario knowing that he could not upgrade his wife to CW and may feel actually lot better and rested by giving her the CW seat. Happy Wife = Happy Life
