It is shows up on your boarding pass if you
are upgraded or standby for an earlier flight
for meal purposes. This way they can tell who was booked on the flight and who wasn't. Se/E get a 1 and everyone else gets a 2.
The computer does not differentiate if you are on a dash8 or a340 so it will show up regardless.
