We were due to fly on BA 108 from Dubai to Heathrow on the 26th October at 9.30am but woke to a text and email saying the flight was delayed for 17 hours and would not depart until 2.30am on Sunday 27th.
We were in F on a 2 for 1, the captain came to speak to us before departure and apologised for the long delay and said it was operational reasons.
We filed a compensation claim with BA but this was rejected as they said the part was the air flow ducting clamp and as it was not expected to be replaced it counted as extraordinary circumstances.
Does anyone think this is worth pursuing further?
From Dubai to Heathrow I think there is a reasonable possibility that the airline could prove the issue constituted extraordinary circumstances which could not have been prevented by all reasonable precautions being taken. But it is not certain.
