While it shouldn't take two weeks, 5 days could be a little tight. It can take a day or two for the miles that makes you a DM to post to your Skymiles account and IIRC, another day for your status to change to DM. I'm not sure if you're allowed to pick the choice benefits immediately when your status changes or not, but even if you can, it'll be another day or two for your wife's status to be updated to GM. So it should be doable, but don't dawdle selecting the choice benefits.
