Most vacations will be in SE Asia has there as northern Asia only has a few destinations we would considered family vacation worthy. I did have a favor getting Hyatt status before the deval because of the 6k suite upgrade for duration of my stay. This would mean there would high probability I would get a suite upgrade by using one of the 4 suite upgrades, 6k points or maybe by status.

Didn't figure in getting nights for two rooms if I booked two rooms.

One location which is on our splurge list without the kids is Bora Bora which Hyatt doesn't have any hotels.

We been to Maldives and stayed at the Hyatt, doubt we would stay at any of the SPG hotels. Bali is on our lost but I see that one of the Hyatt hotels is closed until late 2015.

I'm leaning towards SPG because of the Hyatt deval and the number of hotels SPG had in SE Asia to choose from. However, I haven't analyzed if these hotels are hotels we would actually stay at for a family vacation but I'm guessing we would.
