Yes, quite possible; in fact, very possible. I do it all the time; just tell the agent that you would like to get into an exit row seat if one is available.
(presuming of course, you are able-bodied and not a senior citizen).


Usually, if things aren't too busy and if you check in early enough, they are more than happy to oblige.
