However, I suspect you're going to find the cost of NYC-SFO-LON being way higher than DUB-SFO return. Problem now is that the fare is going to be way higher - looks like WTP from DUB to NYC is circa EUR1500 pp.

I would really advise against doing back to back transatlantic flights - you'll be a wreck by the time you get to California.
I thought the back to back transatlantic flight wouldn't be too bad because I'd try and stay on US time, but maybe it would be much worse than I thought...

Would it still not be more cost effective to book NYC-SFO return for £280 and then pay a change fee on BA and move the date from NYC - DUB to the 21st/22nd (whenever's cheaper?) I suppose it depends on variables that I've not given you guys - how do I find the fare rules for my flight in MMB?
