I guess I'm just trying to figure out the best way to get upgrades. I'm new to the frequent travel thing - currently Gold, and anticipating becoming Platinum by the end of the year. And, yes, I am obligated to fly coach.

Is it worth it to look for these type fares? And is there a difference in these fares and, say, the typical lowest class fares that I buy, other than the higher chance for upgrades?
