You may be right but I think the main Tokyo route options were either via Moscow as in LHR-MOW-HND or via Anchorage as in LHR-ANC-HND/KIX (Polar route).

For those with stout constitutions you could also go LHR-FRA-THR-DEL-BKK-HKG-HND. Clearly better TP run oppotunities there

Honolulu was part of the Pacific service running JFK-LAX/SFO-HNL-NAN-SYD.

TBH I don't see BA returning to HNL; naff all business traffic and would be relying on high-end holiday makers. Purely due to the distance I don't know how much UK demand there really is - it's a long way to go to wind up in a resort that could just as easily be in Miami. Lot's of nasty sharks in Hawaiian waters too (Tigers) but I grant you, the surfing is likely to be better.
