There was no "weather" (until the next day). There were 5 domestic cancellations, all announced well before 2 pm, so probably nobody went to the airport. All other flights departed that night. From the 2 Dreamliners, only the few pax (TPE and SGN) got stuck in NRT for the night, beside us GUM-bound pax. And UA had probably already booked us BF pax to Kisarazu before announcing the cancellation.
And aside from the few NRT-originated pax, we were all "mechanicals" to begin with.
Given the clarifications about the situation, I think it's fair to ask UA why they chose the hotel location that they did. It would seem surprising on that day that there weren't any other closer options.
