What maybe possible is to purchase a Metropark to Newark ticket ($6.00) and use your amtrak ticket to hop the gate -OR- even an Elizabeth to Newark ticket ($2.75). You just have to change the origin on the NJT kiosk to purchase those tickets.
But you can't change the origin on NJT kiosks at EWR. Those kiosks will only allow you to purchase tickets from EWR, with the AirTrain fee. To do this, you will need to have repurchased your NJT ticket at some other station.
