What is your source for the average 75% PHL-TLV connecting traffic - Specifically, for the years 2011-2013? FYI, a significant revenue/profit source for that flight is O&D cargo.

That applies to just about every city in the U.S., except NY, LA and SFO. Very few cities can support year round international flights to Europe/Asia/Africa without connections or significant, high margin, cargo. Without connecting traffic support, CLT would likely have zero flights to Europe, including the LH MUC flight.

I feel we should begin to get some initial insight into how the new AA plans to utilize JFK and PHL during summer 2014. With QR (and potentially IB) starting PHL service, as well as the mystery new entrant who will use the EU edicted PHL-LHR slots, AA/BA/LHR will no longer be the only source of OW intercontinental connections, via PHL. One key push for the new AA - under Parker, will likely be to significantly increase international Revenue streams by siphoning connection traffic from DL at JFK and UA/CO at EWR. I don't believe that can be even approached with the intense competition and the complexity/undesirability of using prime slots for domestic connecting traffic at JFK. Therefore, IMO most future AA international expansion, via the NE, particularly connecting based, will be from PHL. This should be even more pronounced for the LHR traffic, if BA/AA JV is extended to PHL-LHR, since it should provide significant new inflows (connections) to support increasing the existing 2 100% O&D BA PHL-LHR flights to 4, or 2 + 2 AA.. My theory is that BA will want to increase their number of flights to support AA connections at PHL, rather than JFK.

BTW, adding to the many conspiracy theories already associated with this merger (DOJ) fiasco, I wouldn't be surprised if the EU was influenced into the LHR slot divestiture requirement by a new entrant carrier already identified with the LHR-PHL route.
