What else is weird is that I can select the Preferred Seats that are already occupied.

What will happen then? Overbooked?

PS: Are Preferred Seats refundable?
Just had a similar weird experience. Had booked 2 preferred seats (18AB) back in February. Checked from time to time to see we still had them. Got on the plane (Nov. 9) and chatted with the people sitting behind who said they had booked our seats but when they got to the airport they didn't have them. Never sorted out why but we did have our seats.
