Whether 50k is worth it or not depends on your travel patterns and what you hope to achieve by being higher up in Aeroplan's pecking order.
To me, the biggest advantage of achieving E50K is becoming *A Gold. This means priority boarding and luggage and access to all *A lounges (unless E35K selected ML card). If one flies strictly AC domestic then this is less of an issue (priority luggage is the only missing perk).
