I told the officer that it sure was nice while it lasted to have only "pros" in the Pre-Check line. He said that they've been told that TSA's goal is to have "80% of pax going through Pre-Check by this time next year."
So rather than just join the rest of the world by eliminating shoe removal and other nonsense they continue the charade by slowly transitioning everyone into a new system. I guess it's good that we're headed towards less needless scrutiny at the checkpoints but the path to get there is its own circus.
