As long as you reported it in BKK before you left the airport, you should be fine. My luggage arrived with a broken handle on a recent trip back to LHR, I reported it to the baggage enquiries desk in the baggage reclaim hall, and received a new case of similar dimensions and price (different colour and manufacturer, but it's perfectly good) shortly afterwards to my home by courier.
