My luggage has been badly broken in the hold on a BA flight, what to do?
If anyone has any suggestions could they reply or if people have had similar experiences can they share them with me in this thread. Thanks.
My luggage has been quite badly broken on the BA09 LHR-BKK flight when I picked it up from baggage reclaim in BKK. I used the bag drop at T5 for which I can as a Silver BAEC member and it was all neatly packed and sealed when I handed it over. When I retrieved it a strap had been fully broken off my rucksack and the contents were beginning to spill out of it and now minus an integral strap it will be very difficult to keep the contents contained within safely. Does anyone have any ideas how I should proceed on this? Is it a travel insurance claim? Is it BA's responsibility as I left it I fine condition and I don't want my insurance to go up in price should I make a claim. Any suggestions?
I have to travel to Africa next week from BKK for a four week research trip with this large rucksack and I think it's going to be tough to keep hold of my items as the rucksack won't fasten closed at the top. Some business trips I use a large Samsonite executive suitcase but some business trips when I'm going to more rural places a rucksack is more appropriate than a smart wheeled suitcase.
