Agreed.
It's all well and good for me to take a bump and get a $400 voucher when on a domestic V fare or better take a bump on an international V fare for $800, as these compensation rates are more than I probably paid for that one-way fare. That said, the pittance of a compensation offered in the DTW-NRT case is awful, especially since it was involuntary. To make matters worse, they have been targeting low-revenue (award) kettles, who are less likely to know how badly they're being screwed.
I'll say it again, if reports of this continue - I'm out, and others should begin to look as well. I refuse to give my money to a company who actively and repeatedly engages in deceitful acts towards its customers. At least for now, there are other options.
