I've had pretty good luck trying to see Award flight availability for USA-LHR-CPT-LHR-USA for NEXT YEAR, and the current system for BA Award on Expert Flyer seems to be working swimmingly! Alerts go off, I get a text message and boom, I check online and then sure enough - there are the SEATS!
