Here is what I received from Chase on 10/22 regarding the credit. Hope it helps.
Dear xxxxxxx xxx,
Thank you for contacting Chase regarding your United
MileagePlus® credit card account.
Since the merge of United and Continental Airlines in 2012
there has been a revision to the bonus credit issued on
United members that carry the 1K or GS status. This credit
is no longer associated with the annual fee amount or date
it is billed.
Here's information on the new 1K/GS annual bonus credit:
- If you are a 1K/GS member and a Chase Cardmember, the
yearly benefit is a $60 statement credit.
- The credit will automatically be applied to your April
credit card statement each year this offer is in effect.
- If you have more than one MileagePlus account, you will
receive only one $60.00 statement credit.
Thank you for being our customer. We appreciate your
business.
If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.
Thank you,

I am thinking to close my last Chase/UA card (Select) as I don't know if I would try to specifically keep my 1k status any longer. If I decide no, then it won't make sense anymore to pay $$ for 5k QPMs every year.
