There are a couple of Choice Hotels in Rome that are a really good deal. I think that the Clarion Collection Isabella Principessa has the best location. It normally goes for 10,000 points, but if you catch the periodic sale, it is 8,000 points/night. Now, they might increase it in the summer as Choice does seem to change hotel points on a whim.
Now, it is not luxury like to St. Regis or the Westin, but it is a pretty good deal.
