I doubt it would be <$100 unless you can get a relocation special where the car hire is free as long as you can get to to the destination within a certain timeframe.
I tried a couple of companies (dummy booking) and can't even rent a car (one way CBR-SYD in 24 hrs time for 6 hrs) let alone choose rental rates.
