I think the OP wants to SDC first to get the desired routing with connections at certain airports, then SDS to change to flights at different times. There doesn't seem to be any rule to prevent this. First you SDC, then you decide that you need to change again and you SDS since SDC isn't available. If enough people do this, DL might rethink the stringent same fare code restrictions for SDC.
