The LAST choice I would consider would be to try to get Lao Central to rebook you,

Assuming the flight that day actually is canceled, they should allow you to cancel with a full refund. If not, use the CC option.

Getting around SE Asia is easy. Just rebook the flight on Lao (or Thai, but I think they will be more expensive) and avoid the worry.
