comments/suggestions on Borneo itinerary
My husband and I will be vacationing in Malaysian Borneo in May 2014. I think I've worked out an independent touring itinerary. I'd like to see what FT'ers who have been there think of my plan. My arriving and departing flights are set and cannot be changed as they are award tickets.
May 9 Arrive BKI @12:20am on OZ 757, from the US, hang out, hotel in KK
May 10 snorkel at Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, hotel KK
May 11 fly BKI-SAN in morning. Visit Sepilok. Transfer to Kinabatangan Lodge, which one yet to be determined, hotel lodge
May 12 river lodge activities, hotel lodge
May 13 fly lodge to San, fly SAN-KCH in afternoon, hotel KCH
May 14 fly KCH-Mulu on nonstop in morning, park activities, hotel Mulu
May 15 park activities, hotel Mulu
May 16 GMNP park in morning, fly Mulu-KCH afternoon, hotel KCH
May 17 visit Bako Parkas day trip, hotel KCH
May 18 visit Semengoh as day trip, hotel KCH
May 19 explore Kuching or day trip, hotel KCH
May 20 explore Kuching a.m., afternoon flight to Singapore, AirAsia 3:30-5:05pm, layover 7 hours
May 21 fly SIN-ICN at 12:10am SQ 608
Does this order of doing things and flights make sense? An alternate would be on May 13 to either stay in Sandakan, then fly to Mulu on the 14 or fly SAN-BKI, stay there, then fly to Mulu on 5/14. or I can stay one more day in KK and one less in Kuching.
I have not made any hotel reservations yet nor bought any domestic air tickets. I think I have the Kinabatangan lodge choices narrowed down to 2:
Abai Jungre Lodge or Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Both offer a similar 2 day package.
Suggestions and comments are welcome and needed before I start making final plans. Thanks in advance for your input. FT'ers helped me with a China vacation itinerary 3 years ago and that trip was wonderful.
