PreCheck now does work for international itineraries. The TSA changed the policy to allow intl. flights about 4-6 months ago.

In October, I got the 3 Beeps in CLT on an AZ itinerary CLT-JFK-Italy and again in JFK on the way home. This was on an AZ ticket (055 stock).
