My CP expires the end of the year 2013. If I book a flight now for Jan 2014, can I add my CP to it? Or is it smart enough to know the CP expires the end of the year?

On a separate question, I'm 33k miles away from qualifying for CP for 2014. Any suggestions? Is it too late to get in on the credit card deal and get purchases to qualify?
