If they lived together for 10 years there may be another problem. Lots of states have what is called common law marriage. If you live together for a certain period of time you are basically considered married and any miles she earned while in that time could legally be half his. You may want to check this out. If so and he had the pin I doubt there is much that can be done.

I remember some celebrity many years ago got sued to pay alimony and a settlement when the other party claimed common law marriage, California is not a common law marriage state so got tossed in court. Lee Marvin was the actor. I know the wiki states both sides must consent but if there is no paper who is to say if both sides consented or not. It's he said/she said. And if they shared bank accounts, etc makes it even more difficult.
