Would be interesting to see if DL would allow checking bags ~10 hrs ahead of the JFK-BOS segment when checking in for the first JFK-DCA leg.

I have tried checking bags in across days when stopping overnight in an intermediate point but was not successful. Not the same as the suggestion from curentjer but similar in the sense of checking luggage ahead of your typical 2-3 hr check-in window.
