Here's a little bit of a contrarian opinion. You have an incredible amount of spend - making you the envy of everyone here. You also apparently manage your spend closely, since you know how much you have and how the fees are eating at you.
You could have each and every credit card signup/spend bonus available, while simultaneously earning some great elite status benefits.
Why the heck would you waste all of that spend on a 1-ish mile/$ card - whether it be SPG or UA or whatever - assuming you have the time/attention to actually track and maximize what you're spending?
You're leaving thousands of $ in rewards and perks on the table. Be frustrated with yourself, not Amex.
