It should have been a CW sleeper service out of AUH, with sandwiches or cookies. BA's SOP seemed to change in about 2010. Previously when the lights were extinguished for take-off they stayed off for the whole flight. Now the lights are turned back on after take-off.

That was my experience anyway!

There are however great day flights back from DXB - one leaves at 9.30 in the morning and the other (winter sked only) leaves at 3.30 in the afternoon.

If you take the 12.45 in the afternoon from LHR to DXB and the 3.30 in the afternoon flight from DXB to LHR then that must be one of the best routes for getting the most out of F and CW.
