For Hawaii yes (though I see 2BR condos renting for $200/wk but that's a different animal) for Orlando no - many cheap hotels there.
What people forget is the opportunity cost of the buy-in. $200/nt is not bad for annual fees but if you pay $50k (current price for a 2BR in Hawaii, Cancun etc.) then your actualy cost is much higher given what you could earn on $50k. Resale certainly looks more attractive at the right price, depending on the location.
The annual "maintenance" fees are continuously escalating, my SIL has a SPG timeshare that was originally $600/yr and after 10 years is now $1400 - yikes!
