Whether it is a good idea or not depends on the awards you plan to use on AA or other carriers, and maybe what other travel you are planning to earn more miles or points
RBC points can be converted to BA or AA among others, and currently it is a 50% bonus to BA and 20% bonus to AA.
100,000 RBC points would convert to 120,000 AA miles or 150,000 BA avios.
