Why don't BA have any European bases? How do they get Spanish speaking crew for example? Recruit in the UK? Perhaps it would be cost effective opening some international crew bases in southern/eastern Europe.
SIN ICC crew fly with both Worldwide crew and Mixed Fleet crew at present as both sets of cabin crew's fly into SIN. MF carry on to SYD. Other than that, ICC only fly alongside our WW colleagues. CAI is a split ICC base. Some are WW crew and some are MF crew (all down to contracts etc).
MF do employ people with different languages, indeed many of our crew speak 2,3 or 4 languages. Specific recruitment campaigns were initiated for Japanese, Korean and Mandarin speaking crew for MF operated routes to Haneda, Seoul and Singapore.
As for Europe, many years ago BA actively recruited in Europe for language speakers but to be London based - many recruited are still working for BA. And as economical as it sounds, it is very expensive to have lots and lots of bases across the world.
Hope this helps answer any questions.
