It's not that I needed codeshares. Just that when I phoned AC, they booked me that way.
Which I did not expect to be an issue.
BTW I called AC back. Took them a while but in the end they did assign me seats. Together with my wife.
Funny thing is, I only see the seats on the codeshare on aircanada.com but not on checkmytrip. And the opposite on the non-codeshare legs.
