Regional Airports - Tips and tricks

Let me begin by confessing some self interest: After a number of years away I have recently moved back to the UK and MAN is now my local airport. This opens up a whole new world of learning as I calibrate my membership around a regional airport. I was hoping for a wiki to give me a helping hand but in it’s absence I thought I would ask if others would be kind enough to share their regional specific knowledge.

Perhaps it is even worth a separate thread for the major regional (oxymoron to anyone living in London) airports such as MAN, EDI, GLA etc. I would be happy to collate and administer if others thought it worthwhile and if they could help guide me with regard the protocol.

Below are some of the questions that I had as a newbie to regional flying:

1) Impact of domestic leg on reward bookings
- Availability considerations/differences
- Short haul implications (e.g. RFS)
- Stop Overs
2) Other One World carriers to consider from a specific airport
- Destinations served direct
- Implications of connecting via another hub vs LHR
3) Lounge Access
- Is there a lounge?
- Can I access on an international ticket with a domestic leg?
4) Tier points
- Are there any easy/cheap ones to be had?

I know a number of these points, if not all, are covered elsewhere but I think there is merit to consolidation. Of course, if this consolidation has already occurred and this thread is redundant I would welcome a friendly poke in the right direction.
