That's a bit shortsighted.
Those *G could come to the US and leave on UA, and be subjected to the bag restrictions.
People go places and shop, take sports equipment, etc. Some business travelers haul equipment with them when they travel for work.
There's also the reduced weight allowance too.
It's probably a lot more than you think.
