Surprisingly, this feature of Avios gives me more confidence in its program. I would have never thought a generous cancellation fee policy would affect my mindset of a Loyalty Program.
One of the downsides of having such a liberal cancellation policy is that is does contribute to the lack of availability. People figure - why not book it? It'll only cost me a handful of dollars if I have to cancel. That explains A LOT now! It's rare to find such limited availability 11 months out on Aeroplan, because it's so expensive to cancel/change. The good news is that availability is still there - and I'll ride that wave while I can!
