I'm going to Lisbon next month and would like to utilize my plat status for the Sofitel. However Accor does not give plats free breakfast so even the advance special rate of 120 goes up to 170 with breakfast for two.

But I see that hotels in Lisbon are today generally very cheap.

A perfectly adequate Ibis with new bedding starts with 39 euros + 12 euros for a buffet breakfast for two. That is a difference of about 300%. And the Sofitel does not even have a lounge.

I realize Sofitel is nicer and the breakfast is better, but I think I will be fine with the Ibis breakfast as well. If the Sofitel had a lounge I might go for it but I currently have trouble to justify it to myself. After all, you can do a lot with a saving of 120 euros per day.

Is the Sofitel really so much nicer that I should reconsider?
