AA arrives at T3
BA arrives at T5
BA to BA transfer at T5 is easier IMO but if I have eVIPs I will pick the AA flight (even without them, I would do it for MCE.)
You might want to book like this
NYC (AA/BA) X/LON BA BOM //DXB BA X/LON (AA/BA) NYC
and buy a oneway Bombay to Dubai
