I had an expired one (current style) rejected in September. It was on a flight to Munich, with a German FA (or so she sounded). I was not surprised that she played by the rules.
The 2MM (self-proclaimed) across the aisle from me was also upset that he was not entitled to a free drink on a TATL flight, but that's merely an aside.
