Yeah, I know about the Topas - but it's far too flashy for me and the dents/scratches make it a no go. And, nobody uses a Pelican as their normal suitcase.

Certain manufacturers make soft-sided luggage with a really strong internal shell that "protects" around all sides and the back. Tumi Alpha, higher end VIctorinox, etc. I use these now as the main reason I had bought hard-sided stuff was for the stronger protection than a normal soft-sided case.
