Help with South Ferry Station? (accessibility)

My husband and I will be taking my mother to NYC for a few days. She's 76. We want to take the subway from Times Square to the Staten Island Ferry. South Ferry station doesn't have a working elevator at the moment, and as I'm sure New Yorkers now, the station has considerable storm damage. To our understanding, they are actually using the "old" station.

My mother lives in a two story house, but we want to avoid doing this subway trip if it will require many flights of stairs. We're trying to get an accurate idea of what the conditions are currently. It appears that they do have an escalator that goes up. Is that correct?
