Had to make a short notice route change, coming back on BA26 from HKG. Unfortunately, there were no window seats and I had 51D. Very fortunately, this was changed to 1A on boarding (G-XLEC). Unlike what is inferred from the seat map, seats 1A and 1K are actually alongside the stairwell wall. Positive - if you are travelling alone these seats are very private and quiet. Negative, if you are slightly claustrophopic and prefer more open spaces or of a sociable disposition (not recommended on a long night flight) or are not travelling alone then go for rows 2-4. I do wonder if row 4 is going to be noisy - lots of crew milling around. The crew were all second timers (first time going out) and were still finding their way around. The new tasting menu was not bad. Watched a film while eating and slept to the 40min, so a good trip. Since I had 50 A&B booked for my wife and I on 31 Dec, I had a look and realised that the lack of the two windows would drive me bonkers and the curtain is very close to 50B, so have changed to 52.
