Hi everyone,

This is my first time booking award flights so please be gentle. My girlfriend and I would like to travel from NW TX to Vietnam in December 2014 for a family visit. I figure that I might just drive to DFW and fly from there. Currently, I have 60k AS miles and 20k AA miles. I will probably be applying for the 50k AA offer and do some MS on my AS debit so that would bring me up to 100k AS miles and 70k AA miles.

I plan to use 50k AA and 50k AS to book two tickets on AA from DFW to Japan/Korea. Then I will use 50k AS to book 2 tickets intra-Asia from Japan/Korea to HAN/SGN on CX.

Alternatively, I saw on AS website something about CX flying RT to Asia for only 60k miles. However, is that per segment or can I fly from DFW to HAN/SGN for only 60k miles RT?

Please let me know what you think about my plan. Again, this is my first time booking award flights so please enlighten me
